So finally you get to hear from the horse’s mouth, the guy that’s taking the challenge on, the dim wit that was in desperate need of a job and decided to impress everyone by hitch hiking to Germany, 1000 km away.

You may think the odds are stacked against me but the challenge is now in full swing and I am prepared to give it my all. Over the next couple of weeks I shall be preparing myself for what would be the furthest that I have ever pushed and carried something without paying a penny to do so. But I am not going into this challenge blind. Preparation has been underway and I am slowly ticking off a checklist of what I must do to get to the world championships.

This has entailed finding the means to charge my phone without a plug socket, find a tent that small enough to carry and big enough to sleep in, checking my BMI to see whether I need to be fatter or lighter to stand a chance of winning the chair race and probably the most important…. how the hell do I hitch hike to Germany?!

If anyone has got any tips, tricks on hitch hiking or if they would even like to give me a lift because they are heading in the direction of Guildford, Dover, even Stuggart then please give me a tweet and I would love to have a chat.

There is however some good news, I have been kindly donated an office chair by Max office supplies that is currently sitting Adrian’s back yard (not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing) which is the proposed chair that I will use to take down to Germany. As well as this Tim Williamson: the ultrathon runner that we covered earlier in the year is joining the cause to travel on an office chair to race. I am slightly worried though due to the fact that he may be racing me and if so… I don’t really stand a chance.

As with Sports nowadays, you have to look good in Kit and Sam May our photographer has kindly taken some time out to snap me in Carnaby Street to promote the event. So take a look and if you want to get involved in any way possible then please get in touch.
